EIT Urban Mobility, Uny, Glovo and Wolt aim to make last-minute deliveries more sustainable, more efficient and more scalable for cities across Europe.
Selected in the EIT Urban Mobility Main Innovation Open Call 2024, the NG SEED project implements a universal swappable battery ecosystem for last-mile delivery fleets, zero-emission electric vehicles powered by universal batteries and supported by a network of solar-powered back-up swap stations. Together we’re reducing pollution, traffic congestion and operational inefficiencies in urban areas.
Urban delivery fleets contribute significantly to traffic congestion and emissions. Food delivery services alone account for 5-10% of urban traffic. NG SEED tackles these challenges by:
Reducing last-mile delivery emissions by 90%
Cutting operational costs by 50% compared to traditional fleets
Eliminating downtime with battery swaps that take under 1 minute
NG SEED integrates technology with real-world applications:
Universal battery compatible with over 20 types of vehicles, from e-scooters to cargo vans.
Strategically located swap stations offering quick battery swaps, ensuring uninterrupted operations for couriers.
A cost-effective solution that includes maintenance, insurance and real-time fleet management software for maximum efficiency.
NG SEED is being piloted in six cities across four countries, with each pilot running for a minimum of three months:

Each city will host 20 zero-emission vehicles and 4 solar-powered swap stations.
Our innovative approach sets a new standard for sustainable urban logistics:
360,000 km of zero-emission deliveries during the pilot phase
72,000+ orders delivered with zero emissions
25,000+ kg of CO2 saved, contributing to cleaner air and healthier cities
NG SEED is powered by the collaboration between industry leaders who share a vision for greener cities
Uny (lead partner), delivering electric vehicles, universal batteries and solar-powered back up swap stations
Glovo and Wolt (demo hosts), leading multi-category platforms implementing the solution across their networks
